Sprawling north of Lake Padden Park and along the east edge of Interstate 5 up towards Western Washington University is the what is commonly referred to as the Samish Hill community. The Samish Hill neighborhood has a higher median list price than other parts of Bellingham at around $550K.
Zip codes 98225 and 98229 are the primary zips for the Samish Hill area. Residents enjoy (no pun intended) a hilly neighborhood with a rural feel. Views of Happy Valley can be seen from homes closer to and on Mill Street. Overall this neighborhood is mostly homeowners with just a few apartments located at the bottom of the hill, which is the northernmost portion of this neighborhood.
You can find both older homes and new development in this area, so it is really up to you what level of historical character you prefer to find in your home. Either way, all residents enjoy the nearby Lake Padden Park which is one of the cities largest and hosts an 18-hole golf course!
