Emerald Lake Neighborhood – Bellingham, WA
Emerald Lake, also known as Toad Lake, is the least known lake in Washington. About 28.5 acres, the community built surrounding the lake is small and intimate. The neighborhood is located east of greater Bellingham and nestled within the Squalicum Mountains. It is also just north of the much larger, more well-known Lake Whatcom.
Quite popular amongst residents and visitors of Emerald Lake is trout fishing. Water activities including kayaking, rowing, and swimming are allowed in most parts of the lake. Motorboats, however, are not permitted. Plus, being only a 20-minute drive from Downtown Bellingham, residents can pop over for some more traditional fun, as well. The fine dining and entertainment scene is vibrant and growing!
Emerald Lake is an awesome option for balancing rural life with proximity to highway access points on I-5. Neighborhood children attend Northern Heights Elementary, Shuksan Middle School, and Squalicum High School, all still within the Bellingham School District. Children and adults combined, there are just 343 residents in Emerald Lake.
